My thesis research sought to find methods to strengthen public education by considering the school building as a tool. After researching effective school design interventions in public school buildings across the United States, I chose a theoretical site in the very southern portion of Chicago.

George Washington High School, according to my research, is an excellent example of a school with a growing career-centered training program. Focusing on technical skills and career-focused class opportunities, the curriculum would be well supported by a thoughtful addition of technical classroom space.

This is a renovation design that focuses on making pointed interventions in the existing footprint. The final product is intended to be a demonstration of a prototype design method that could be transferrable to schools with similar conditions.
